Dancing With Dean

We are very fortunate to have Dean McKerras with us to facilitate Creative Dance.  The children have been busy learning their moves and are looking forward to presenting the dances on Tuesday 4th October at the Memorial Hall.  It looks set to be a fantastic presentation.

Gardening with Mrs Swanson

At lunchtimes Mrs Swanson goes out to the children's Veggie Gardens and helps the children water and look after the plants.  There are heaps of things growing!  Take a look at the photographs the Room 2 children took on Tuesday lunchtime (27th September).

My Puppy Came For A Visit!

Today in Room 2 we had two very special and cute visitors. Angelina and Joshua brought their new puppies into Koputaroa School.  They are English Springer Spaniels.  This breed of dogs were used as hunting dogs.

"My puppy came to Room 2 after Morning Tea.  She is called Polly and I got her on Thursday 22nd September.  She was shaking in my arms because she was scared of all the children.  I had to tell all the children to be quiet!  My puppy was going under the tables and I had to get her out.  Everyone called Joshua's dog and my dog. Joshua's dog is called Pippin.  My puppy is bigger than Joshua's puppy because she eats more!  Sometimes she steals Pippin's food!  Sometimes Pippin steals Polly's food!"

This is a photo of my brother's puppy called Pippin.

Ronald MacDonald comes to Koputaroa!

On Tuesday 6th September Ronald McDonald visited the children in Rooms 1, 2 and 3 to teach them about Road Safety.  It was a highly entertaining session which also gave the children a serious message about being safe when they are out and about on or near the roads.  Room 2 wrote some recounts about the visit.  Enjoy reading their take on the morning!

Today Ronald McDonald came to our school.  He was so funny.  Everyone was laughing at him.  He was teaching us Road Safety.  You have to stop, look and listen for a car. He taught us about sneaky driveways.  You have to watch and look.  If you see one you have to stop and see if a car comes out.

Ronald McDonald came to school. He was scared of us!  We listened to the story.  Some people laughed. First he put up a stand.  Next he played with  a sock. Finally I was happy because of the laughing.  I didn't want Ronald McDonald to go.  This is the first time I've seen him and I liked the show.  My favourite part was the face paint.

Ronald McDonald came.  He was scared of us and he was scared of the 'Gobbling Tree' as well.  He was so funny.  He's like the best clown ever.  He cracked us up.  He told us a story.  It was a funny story.  We sung a song with him.  He was so cool that I wanted to pull the sock off him.  At first I was scared of him.  He taught us road safety.  I was so excited that I almost screamed.

Today Ronald McDonald came to our school.  First he was scared of us!  Next the book stand would not stand up.  After that Ronald McDonald showed us his book.  Finally we finished because I wanted lunch.  My tummy was hungry.  We got to have his puppet with the eyes.

E-Learning

Room 2 have been busy using the computers to support on-going learning in class.  They have been getting used to using Chrome or Safari to gain access to the internet, type in an address and have fun with different web-sites that support the learning in class.
Using a B.B.C. website to practice sentence structure.

Using a maths game website to learn about patterns.

Laughter Club!!!

Room 2 enjoyed  3 sessions of 'Laughter Yoga' as part of their Modular Learning.  This exciting form of exercise was  first started by a Doctor from India, who firmly believed that  'laughter is the best medicine'.  From small beginnings in India this exercise form has now spread to many countries around the world.
'Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha' - a stretching and breathing exercise.

'Babble Gabble' - meet and laugh.

'Silent Laughter' - excellent for the stomach muscles.

'Milk Shake Laughter' - Stretching and Toning.
