Elmer's Day Parade

The Elmer Cake made by Georgina's Mum
Today Room 2 had their Elmer's Day Parade celebration.  This idea came from the book, Elmer by David McKee - the children asked if they could hold their own Elmer's Day!  So, they planned and organized and came up with a selection of games they would like to play and the idea of a shared morning tea.  This was a brilliant way to celebrate their learning from Term 3 and we had a great time.
Playing Musical Elmer Chairs

We had lots of yummy food!

Taking a break before playing pin the tail on the elephant

We paraded with our masks!

We ended our celebration by using Skype to chat with Mrs Swanson in Canada!!!  It was great to see her and Toby and we learnt lots about the differences between New Zealand and Canada.  We are going to skype again in Term 4!

This is what the children said they especially enjoyed in Term 3 -

The Elmer's Day Parade because it was cool and awsome!

Reading Rotation because we got good at sound out and reading better.

Laughter Yoga, we liked the milkshake one, the evil one, the hot sand one and the relaxation at the end because we got to lie down and have a rest.

Making the elephants for Ag Day.

Modules because you get to do really fun things.

Dance because we got to do a car dance.

Using ixl (a website) to learn our maths facts.

Learning about facial expressions and body language as in Language, Symbols and Text (our Key Competency focus).

Its been a busy term and Term 4 looks set to be just as busy!!
